LOOKING FOR RAINBOW is an action conceived and led by Davide D’Elia in Shoreditch, London, in 2008 to collect images and data on rainbows or iridescent formations and constitute a database to draw on for subsequent works. Today those colorful flyers, primary tools for constituting that collection, are published in a small volume, a limited edition of 50 copies, in a bundle with the book TIEPIDO COOL. LOOKING FOR RAINBOW is a haunting, paper-based work by Davide D’Elia telling of a search that starts from a flyer with typical “wanted/sold/rented” graphics and then moves toward an attempt at pictorial experimentation by serving the involvement of an uncontrolled community.
Tiepido Cool collects Davide D’Elia’s artistic research of the last fifteen years through images that follows the poetic criterion introduced by the title. The two words, Tiepido, Italian, and Cool, English, guide the succession of works in a path that privileges perceptual rather than chronological-biographical experience.
